Traverse City Dance Project Community Tour

Thursday July 21st @ 7:00pm

ATTENDANCE is FREE

The program features eight professional dancers from national and international companies, and includes Traverse City natives Sarah Wolff and Gabriella Dorman. Performances will feature four works, including new creations by directors Lott and Whitney and a staging of Something I Had in Mind. The TCDP is delighted to bring back this delightful balletic comedy presented in our very first season! By Italian-born choreographer Mauro di Candia.

The evening will also feature live music in a collaboration by former Alonzo King LINES dancer & rehearsal director Kara Wilkes and celebrated Kalamazoo-based cellist and vocalist Jordan Hamilton. Hamilton and Wilkes are recipients of the TCDP’s 2022 NewVo Fellowship, which supports new creations by choreographers and composers.

Opening Night of Frankfort48

University of Michigan's Film, Television, and Media's course 423 "Practicum for the Screenwriter", brings together two of the top screenwriters with a team of production students, including directors, cinematographers, editors and producers along with: actors from the School of Music, Theatre & Dance’s musical theatre and theatre departments; art, sound and costume designers from the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design; composers from the School of Music; and producers from the Ross School of Business, to make 30 to 35 minute shorts. These shorts will be shown Thursday evening followed by a Q & A with UM screenwriting professor Jim Burnstein and UM student filmmakers.

Frankfort48 Film Contest

AUGUST 5-7, 2022

THURSDAY, August 4 @ 7:30pm: University of Michigan's Film, Television, and Media's course 423 "Practicum for the Screenwriter", will premiere their 2 film shorts followed by a Q & A with the UM student filmmakers.

FRIDAY, August 5 @ 9am: Kickoff at The Garden. Participants will be given a (1) line from a movie, (2) prop, and (3) location to creatively incorporate in their film.

SUNDAY, August 7 @ 8:59am: All submissions are due

SCREENING AND AWARD ANNOUNCEMENTS - Gather at The Garden to screen all the created shorts and award winners! Doors open at 7:30pm and films shown starting at 8:00pm.

A Story Through Poetry and Prose

Everyone has a beginning and must find their voice along the way. Veteran Michael Bofshever,

(Breaking Bad, A Dog’s Purpose) returns to the stage in his one man show, PLEASE DO NOT SING: A Story

through Poetry and Prose. It’s a tale of how a teenager from Brooklyn discovers the art of acting, and

ultimately builds a career in show business that spans five decades. In this sixty-minute show, Mr.

Bofshever pays tribute to the teachers, poets and playwrights that helped him discover his voice and

life’s passion.

tHERE WILL BE A Q&A wITH MICHAEL FOLLOWING THE SHOW.

Attendance is FREE.

Donations accepted will go to the Frankfort High School Drama Club.
