The 2026 Stories That Heal Community Concert will be at
The Garden Theater @ 5pm on May 17th, 2026
What is Stories That Heal?
Stories That Heal is an intergenerational community-centered arts program that uses storytelling and songwriting to foster healing, connection, and understanding. Designed for individuals who have experienced trauma, isolation, or major life transitions, the program provides a safe and supportive space for participants to share their stories, be heard, and see their experiences reflected through creative expression. In a time when many people feel disconnected or unseen, Stories That Heal addresses a growing need for accessible, compassionate spaces where stories can build empathy and resilience.
The Garden Theater has partnered with Interlochen Public Radio, Interlochen Arts Academy, and Benzie Senior Resources to expand their outreach to community members and hosted workshops for all ages at local Benzie County libraries, Michigan Shores Coop, and The Gathering Space. In recent years, the need for this program within the youth population in Benzie County has become essential. Stories That Heal facilitators are now leading students weekly through the program at both Frankfort Middle School and Benzie Middle School through the third and fourth quarters of the school year.
