What is Stories That Heal?

Stories That Heal is an intergenerational community-centered arts program that uses storytelling and songwriting to foster healing, connection, and understanding. Designed for individuals who have experienced trauma, isolation, or major life transitions, the program provides a safe and supportive space for participants to share their stories, be heard, and see their experiences reflected through creative expression. In a time when many people feel disconnected or unseen, Stories That Heal addresses a growing need for accessible, compassionate spaces where stories can build empathy and resilience.

Since January, Stories That Heal facilitators have been working with eighth graders weekly at both Frankfort and Benzie Middle Schools using storytelling prompts, somatic movement, and songwriting. Using a similar model at The Gathering Place and Benzie Shores District Library, Benzie county residents old and young have helped to create original songs about shared experiences.

Stories That Heal is about building capacity and creating a deeper sense of connectivity. Come join us for this moving event and experience the original compositions of Benzie natives!
